| U.S. Constitution |
All Congressmen swear a solemn oath to obey and uphold the U.S. Constitution. I will keep that oath. Our problems in this country are a result of failing to follow our Constitution. As your Congressman, I will uphold the Constitution, support State sovereignty and put Texas first. |
| Gun rights |
I will fight for the Second Amendment and the repeal of Federal gun control laws. No government, not State or Federal, has any authority to tell me what gun I can own or how I can carry it. |
| Stop Online Piracy Act |
I support free speech on the internet. Ample laws are already in place to secure copyrighted material. My opponent has authored legislation that would impose government control and censorship upon the internet, crippling a business sector where we have seen some of the strongest growth during an economically difficult time. |
| Immigration |
Immigration laws are not the problem. Enforcement, especially at the Federal level, is the problem. We have a legal route to citizenship that must be equally and fairly applied to all who wish to enter the USA. We can fix this problem if we have people in Washington with courage and leadership. |
| Border Security |
Our borders are incredibly porous. Physical obstacles and technology must be used to prevent the entry of people who have chosen to come to this country illegally. Article 4, Section 4 of the Constitution requires the Federal government to protect our borders. Our government has neglected border security to the point that it is now easier for a terrorist to enter America than it is for you or I to get on an airplane! |
| Veterans |
The men and women who have served us in the various branches of the service are the reason we enjoy the freedoms we do. They deserve our unwavering support and should never be used as political pawns. Instead, they must be honored for their service and justly compensated. Right now, who has better benefits: our wounded veterans who have risked their lives for this country or the misguided politicians in Washington DC? |
| Respect for Life |
I support efforts in Congress to prohibit federal funding of abortions, experimentation on aborted fetuses and partial-birth abortions. I also oppose Federal funding for private family planning groups. |
| Spending |
Confidence in elected officials is at an all-time low because they continue to spend money we do not have. Even now, the rate of borrowing and spending continues to grow. All “leaders” in Washington should take an immediate pay cut of 25% and set the example of cutting back and reducing the size of government. |
| Taxes |
Tax revenue is being misused by Washington DC. We should all be paying lower taxes and our leaders need to be better stewards of our finances. The people in Washington can’t even balance a budget. We do not need to be sending them more money to get us out of the mess they created. |
| Tax Reform |
The tax code must be simplified. It has got to be easy enough for any high school student to understand. If we simplify the tax code, we can greatly reduce the size of the Federal bureaucracy charged with enforcing it. |
| Balancing the Budget |
Start by cutting Congressional salaries, then cut superfluous Federal departments. We need to reexamine all our commitments, both foreign and domestic. We can’t keep spending money we don’t have. |
| Health Care |
The solution to our health care issue is to get government out of the way and let people determine their own health care needs. The Federal government forcing us to buy a product from an insurance company is a type of tyranny I will never support. Large Federal programs intended to solve social problems, like the wars on drugs and poverty, have been utter failures in this country, wasting trillions of dollars and leaving us worse off than when we started. There’s no reason to expect that a government-run healthcare program will fare any better. |
| Federal Bureaucracy |
My opponent wants to increase the Federal bureaucracy by putting the Federal government in charge of the internet through legislation like SOPA, and now H.R. 1981, which will require internet companies to keep track of all their customers and give those lists to the government. No way! We’re going to cut the bureaucracies, not make more of them. |
| Use of the Military |
The President taking the country to war on his own whims is completely forbidden by the Constitution, which requires a Congressional Declaration of War. Congress has failed to do its job, so Presidents keep using the military to unlawfully to take the country into conflicts where it doesn’t belong. |
| Term Limits |
If it was good enough for George Washington, it should be good enough for any of us: 8 years. |
| Jobs |
The Federal government does not create jobs. Businesses create jobs. Government needs to get out of the way and let businesses operate in the free market to create jobs. |
| Planned Parenthood |
I don’t believe that I have a right to pick and choose private organizations that we send taxpayer dollars to. As your Congressman, I will not have pet projects supported by public funds. It’s not my money to give to those causes. |
| Gay Marriage |
I don’t believe government has any business being involved in what marriage is and what marriage isn’t. |
